• 1993

   MiG - Microwave Innovation Group - was founded on account of a US space company seeking Prof. Dr. F. Arndt’s support with design issues. These activities were pursued under University administration. The request was then, to establish a continued technical support of industrial projects, for setting up a commercial company to assure long term collaboration.

   Activities of MiG in the following years up to 1999 were primarily of a consulting and design service nature, with MiG’s software development in these years being entirely focused on mode-matching (MM) methods applied to waveguide components.

• 1999

   Team separation on mutual agreement.

• 2000

  MiG started from then on - in parallel to pursuing challenging consultancy work for industry in various countries - to focus its renowned research activities on a systematic software code development along Prof. Dr. Arndt’s farsighted visions about a hybrid multi-solver EM code, capable of meeting industries’ - already at that time foreseeable - needs to solve extraordinary microwave component and antenna design tasks rigorously and within shortest time frames.

• 2002

  Microwave Journal, issue Sept. 2002, honoring MiG by cover-page presentation of WASP-NET’s pioneering hybrid technology approach, opening up a new era, in which the principle of hybridization earned recognition.

• 2003

  MiG moved into larger company quarters from Fahrenheit St. 1 to Fahrenheit St. 11, a complex located on the University Bremen campus, set up by government for successful start-up companies, focused on enhancing knowledge transfer between the University and industry.

  A formal collaboration contract with the University of Bremen remained in force.

• 2000 - present

  The effect of MiG’s fundamental shift in focus in 2000 resulted in WASP-NET’s code continuously growing - over these years - in scope of its former prime focus on mode-matching (MM) to successively combining latter (MM) with codes covering finite-element (FE) / method-of-moment (MoM) / finite-difference (FD) / finite-element boundary-integral (FE-BI) / physical-theory of diffraction (PTD) / physical optics (PO) / shooting and bouncing ray (SBR-) PTD techniques. The renowned benefit of this pioneering hybridization achievement is that WASP-NET users - due to inherent automatic solver assignment technique - can rest  on exploiting the advantages of each solver, without known disadvantages of solvers taking effect on their design work.

• 2001

   Change of formal status from MiG Microwave Innovation Group GbR to MiG Microwave Innovation Group GmbH & Co. KG, registered under HR A 225 15.

• Continuous research and development …

  It understands itself that MiG will, under systematic guidance of Prof. Dr. F. Arndt, continue - with same outstanding rigor as pursued since 2000 - to focus its renowned research potential on code developments anticipating industries’ growing unwillingness to accept time- and cost-relevant limitations in EM design capabilities. One more recent achievement having resulted out of this anticipation is e.g. WASP-NET providing novel capabilities to efficiently optimize antennas directly together with feed networks.
